Musa
Musa Dwarf - Musa acuminata 'Dwarf Cavendish'
Bring a little tropical indoors with the Dwarf Banana plant. Its huge, paddle-shaped leaves create a jungle feel, while its compact size makes it a great choice for a bright spot at home.
Native to South and Southeast Asia, the Musa 'Dwarf Cavendish' is a frost-tender banana plant that needs protecting from cold temperatures. Keep it indoors through autumn and winter, then move it outside once the weather is reliably warm. With plenty of light, regular watering and feeding, it can put on lots of new growth during the warmer months.
Place in bright, indirect light indoors, or full sun to partial shade when outdoors. Water regularly during spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings, and reduce watering during winter. Feed with a fertiliser through spring and summer to encourage healthy leaf growth. Bring indoors before temperatures drop in autumn and protect it from frost.
Don't worry if the leaves develop tears or splits. Banana leaves are naturally delicate, and their large surface area means they can split along the veins as they move in air or wind. This is completely normal and won't affect the plant's health.
